Which of these are you doing today?
These are three different decisions. Pick one, and the plan beside your answers changes as you write. No account, and nothing is uploaded.

Three finished plans, with fictional people.
The examples below are worked as of 2026-11-02, and don’t update without JavaScript.
A fictional example The Lins: one must work, one will study, and the school year doesn’t fit
Two adults and two children. They’d like to move in June 2027, and the children’s school year starts in September.
Or answer these on paper
- Why are you looking at all?
- Besides staying, which two or three alternatives would you really consider?
- What does each person need: work, study, school, care?
- What has to stay true, and what date can’t you go before?
- For each alternative against each line: fits, conflicts, or don’t know?
- Who could answer each “don’t know”?
3 alternatives: 1 set aside, 2 still open, 0 still standing. That comes from your own marks, and isn’t a finding of eligibility. One date doesn’t work. See below first.
Our alternatives
- Still open Staying where we are 2 lines not known yet.
- Still open Spain · remote work (leaning this way) 5 lines not known yet.

What this isn’t
- It isn’t a finding of eligibility, legal or tax advice, and nothing was filed for you. It holds only what you wrote and the questions that follow from it.
A fictional example Tomás: the route is chosen, and now it needs an order
Tomás and a partner have decided on a job in Hong Kong. They don’t need another comparison. They need to know what comes first and who does it.
Or answer these on paper
- Which official page covers this route, and on what day did you read it?
- Which documents have a shelf life, and when should you request them so it isn’t wasted?
- What is each family member’s own permission?
- Who owns each thing, and by when?
- What’s waiting on what?
Route: Hong Kong · a job. 2 of 14 done. This isn’t the official list. The official list decides.
What you can do now
- Write down your facts Who you are, where you live, what you intend to do. Only what the rules ask. No documents needed here. No owner yet. Date: 2027-01-15.
- Birth, marriage and other civil documents Ask whether they need legalising or translating, and how recent they must be. No owner yet.
- Police certificates These often have a shelf life. Ask how long it lasts before you request it, because too early can mean doing it twice. No owner yet.
- Language requirement Ask whether it’s needed, which test, and how long a result lasts. No owner yet.
- Recognition of qualifications Immigration, employers and a professional regulator may each ask something different. Those are three questions. No owner yet.
Waiting on something else
- Put what you’re unsure of into one sentence Waiting on: Write down your facts. If you ask a professional, a precise question costs less.
- Ask about tax Waiting on: Write down your facts. Permission to live there and tax there are separate. It’s easier to ask before than to repair after.
- You submit the application Waiting on: Birth, marriage and other civil documents, Police certificates, Language requirement, Recognition of qualifications, The job offer or admission, My partner’s own permission, Put what you’re unsure of into one sentence. This site files nothing and can’t see any application.
- What has to be done on arrival Waiting on: You submit the application. Registration, cards, tax numbers, banks, schools. Ask which of them have a time limit.
- Move the dates into Holding Waiting on: What has to be done on arrival. Once approved, put each date into Holding, and say which question it belongs to.
If you ask a professional, ask this
- We’ve chosen this route: Hong Kong · a job. From the current official rules, please tell us the document list and the order, which documents have a time limit, and whether the rest of the household needs to apply separately. No names, document numbers or addresses needed.

What this isn’t
- It isn’t a finding of eligibility, legal or tax advice, and nothing was filed for you. It holds only what you wrote and the questions that follow from it.
A fictional example Ana: a card, a passport, and 60 days in Spain
Ana is a Canadian permanent resident whose card expires next year. She spent 60 days in Spain this year, and her family is there. Her dates look alike, and they’re different questions.
Or answer these on paper
- Which question does this date belong to: permission to live there, a card, entry, a passport, nationality, work, tax residence, or filing?
- Is it printed on a document, read on an official page, or your own reminder?
- For a date you don’t know, where would it be stated?
- Does each person in the household have their own line?
6 lines: 0 passed, 2 within 90 days, 3 with no date.
Line by line
- in 64 days My own reminder · me · 2027-01-05 (my own reminder) A date you chose yourself. It isn’t an official deadline of any kind. This is your own reminder, not an official deadline, and missing it changes no status.
- in 79 days Passport · me · 2027-01-20 (printed on the document) How long this passport is usable. It expiring doesn’t end a nationality or a status, but it can limit other permissions.
- no date Permission to live there · me · Canada Whether you may live there. It has its own conditions, and a card or visa ending isn’t necessarily the end of it. This date isn’t known, so it stays unknown here and nothing guesses it. Next step: find the official page or document that states it.
- no date Tax residence · me · Spain Where you count as tax resident. It’s decided by year and by local rules, separately from any residence permission. 60 days is one input. From the AEAT page as read, having your main base of economic activities or interests in Spain can also make you tax resident, and a spouse and dependent minor children living there can raise a presumption that can be rebutted. So a short stay doesn’t by itself mean you aren’t tax resident. You’ve said these are there: spouse and minor children. Take that to a professional. Not known yet: main economic interests. Not knowing stays not knowing, and nothing here treats it as “no”. This tool never concludes whether you are or aren’t tax resident.
- no date Tax filing · me · Spain When a return is due. It’s a filing date, not a date anything about your status ends. This date isn’t known, so it stays unknown here and nothing guesses it. Next step: find the official page or document that states it.
- in 128 days The card that proves it · me · Canada · 2027-03-10 (printed on the document) A card or document shows a status. Whether its date is also when that status ends depends on what it is, so don’t assume. From the IRCC page as read: a PR card expiring doesn’t by itself mean losing permanent resident status. Travel and renewing the card are separate questions. This date tells you about the card, not your status, and this tool doesn’t work out your 730 days.
